Barbados Black Belly Cross Sheepskin Rug

This distinctive sheepskin rug features a unique combination of cream, beige, ginger, and black with a soft texture. It has lighter coloured wool on the tip of the fleece which is lovely and soft, while the base of the fleece is ginger hair which is coarser in texture. The black around the edge of the fleece is quite soft, striking a balance between the two.  It is much shorter haired (about 4cm long) than many of our rugs, and there is some variation in the fleece length.

As our sheepskins are tanned all mixed together, we can only guess at the exact breed. We think this unique sheepskin may well be from a Barbados Black Belly cross, a very rare sheep in the UK. There just aren't any other breeds that have this unique ginger hair all over with black edges - except possibly a Manx Loaghtan cross.

Tanned in the UK and hand-finished in house, most Glencroft sheepskins go to specialist independent retailers across the country. We  pick a few out each week for sale online every few weeks. Once they're gone they're gone!
