This genuine British Herdwick breed sheepskin consists of several shades of grey and cream with some subtle brown highlights.
The wool is surprisingly soft for a Herdwick, although the darker haired patches have a more coarse, wiry texture more characteristic of the breed. This coarseness is what keep the sheep warm in their native Lake District mountain home. It is quite short woolled with a fleece length of about 4cm.
You will see from the picture of the rug laid flat that is not quite symmetrical due to the way it has been hand trimmed.
Like all our rugs, it has been tanned in the UK and hand finished in our Yorkshire Dales warehouse.
Most Glencroft sheepskins go to specialist independent retailers across the country. We pick a few out each week for sale online, once they're gone they're gone!
