An approx 3kg cone of woollen spun undyed 2-ply 5nm British wool yarn created from our Clapdale traceable Yorkshire wool project, manufactured for weaving into cloth and blankets.

This yarn contains 68% Dalesbred yarn from our Clapdale Wool project blended with 32% British Wool Cheviot breed yarn. We had intended to make it from 100% Dalesbred but found the yarn would have been too thick to go through weaving machines so added the finer Cheviot yarn to achieve a 5nm thickness.

This 2-ply yarn has been woollen spun for the purposes of weaving into rustic cloth and we've woven both suiting cloth and travel rugs (after dyeing it various colours) from it in a 200 year old Yorkshire woollen mill.

This is a coarse British Wool yarn with a natural creamy golden brown colour containing flecks of darker nep / wool fibres. Contact us for bulk wholesale pricing.

Materials

Clapdale Wool - Woven: The wool in our woven blankets and Clapdale tweed cloth is sourced from our local Dalesbred sheep breed on 3 farms within 10 miles of Glencroft's Yorkshire Dales home, in the dale of 'Clapdale'. Our farmers are paid more for their wool than at auction and receive a share of the profits of every product sold. The wool is then processed, from farm to yarn, within just 50 miles of the sheep it comes from. Certified as Traceable British Wool.
